Armitage Shanks’ healthcare credentials have been boosted with the specification of sanitaryware for Balfour Hospital (above) in the Orkney Islands off the north coast of Scotland.
Construction is well under way on the £85m project and Armitage Shanks products will be installed from July to the end of the year. The project was won through the supplying merchant, William Wilson.
Gary Townsend, Contract Sales Manager Non-Residential Channel, said: "We have a strong track record in the health sector in Scotland and this project is another example of protecting our market share.
"In addition to the vitreous china and brassware we have also secured the contract to supply the showers, which is less common for Armitage Shanks in hospitals."
A combination of Ideal Standard and Armitage Shanks will go into the fourth floor refurbishment of Wembley Stadium (above). Though not a major project, this represents a fantastic taking share win, where the original Duravit, Grohe and Amwell competitor specification was overturned due to Tim Chappell’s strong relationships in the non-residential market.
Meanwhile, washroom orders are now being placed by Delta Laminates via Neville Lumb as part of the £96m refurbishment of Westminster City Hall (above). Armitage Shanks won the majority of the sanitaryware for the washrooms which will all transact in 2018, through a strong specification with the architect, and good working relationships with ISG and Delta Laminates. A great team effort.
Demonstrating the importance of protecting our own specifications as well as taking share is the new-build South Trafford Health and Wellbeing Centre (above). The Countour 21 ceramics range was originally specified by the client, changed to a competitor by the original contractor which went bust and then won back after the sales team highlighted the competitor’s products were non-compliant.
