Ideal Standard products have been specified for the restoration of Old College, a landmark building that served as the original home of the University of Wales when it opened in 1872.
Now part of Aberystwyth University, the building’s redevelopment will transform the historic seafront building into a multi-use destination, blending its academic heritage with a new role as a cultural, community and hospitality hub.
Once complete, Old College will feature a mix of teaching, event and public spaces alongside a 4-star hotel.
Ideal Standard has secured a specification worth £87,000, supplying a broad range of products across the development.
These include Avon 21 basin mixers, Strada and Portman basins, Edit vessel basins, i.life A toilets, Conceala cisterns, Contour urinals and Alder sinks.
First coming to light in 2022, the order has now finally been placed after Specification Manager Brian Coyne stayed close to the project throughout that period.
Brian said: “This project has been in the works for some time, which isn’t unusual for a complex and sensitive renovation scheme like this.
“However, it does demonstrate the importance of staying in touch with the client, installers and suppliers throughout this timeframe as the longer it takes to confirm the order, the more opportunities there are for competitors to try to take share.”
