Name: Amanda Hills
Job title: Key Account Manager – South

Tell us a bit about yourself
I have been married to Ian for 18 years and we have four beautiful children. We are a football mad family and most evenings and weekends are taken up with training and matches. I volunteer as a trustee of our local youth football club and help fundraise for Herne Bay Women FC, who my eldest daughter plays for. We live by the sea, and the sunsets are stunning, so evening walks in spring and summer with our two Cocker Spaniels and a bag of chips aren’t far away.

Describe your job to a five-year-old
I work for a company that is older than America! We make beautiful toilets for people all over the world. I sell those beautiful toilets to people who build lots of houses and big apartment blocks in London.

What do you like most about your job?
The people I work with are incredible and everyone accepts each other for who they are. We all work together for a common goal with a clear strategy. We all understand what is expected from us and everyone helps each other to succeed. I am very proud of our brand, our history and how we lead innovation in the market.

How did you get here?
I’ve worked in the construction industry for over 20 years – predominantly in construction product manufacturing. I have worked in various roles within that time from specification and sales through to team and account management, so I understand the supply chain and routes to market well. I have been fortunate to work for market leading brands all my career, I always want to work for the best, that way I know I have the backing of a brand that mirrors the values I have in quality and service.

What motivates you?
Problem solving, creative thinking and winning hearts. There is nothing better than winning a project and getting the order based on the work you do in understanding ‘how’ to get a customer onboard by offering a solution and a service that sets you apart from the competition. I love to win but winning the right way matters.

If you could swap jobs with anyone, who would it be?
Sarina Wiegman (England women’s national football team manager)

Your favourite song lyric or line from a film
‘It can’t rain all the time’ – (Brandon Lee, The Crow)

Your favourite app?
Waze (I’d be lost without it!)

Biggest facepalm moment at work?
A recent trip to Mettlach – the team will know why – that’s all I can say 😉
