Exports from the UK business are benefitting from greater efficiency following training for our in-house team.
Export Co-ordinators Alex Willmore and Donna Hibbs have been taking courses accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) to refresh and expand their knowledge of crucial procedures and documentation.
This is important, especially as the UK business seeks to grow exports to countries outside Europe, as mistakes can be costly, both in terms of financial penalties and poor customer experience caused by delays.
As there are constant changes in export, it’s essential to make sure our team are up to date on things like documentation, customs requirements, tariff codes, Brexit and so on.
Alex and Donna have both earned the BCC Foundation Award in International Trade as they have completed three of the available courses; Methods of Payment, Export Documentation and Documentary Letters of Credit.
They are also in regular contact with Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, who have experts in the world of export, and are invited to join monthly meetings where they can have questions and queries answered.
Alex said: “Exporting goods is a really complex and specialised role, and it’s very important we get it right, just as it is with delivering our products on time to customers in the UK.
“However, getting export wrong can result in huge fines from HMRC, refusal of customs to accept goods because of incorrect documentation and unhappy customers who want to know where their products are.
“These courses and the relationship we have developed with Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce ensure we can be confident in our ability to get it right, at a time when our export business is growing.”
