Tell us a bit about yourself
I am married to Lee and we have two children, Harry who is seven and Elsie who is four.  We also have two dogs, Oscar and Archie.  When I am not at work, I am kept quite busy by my children attending various clubs like rugby, football, gymnastics and swimming. Our families are important to both Lee and I are so we do spend quite a lot of our free time with family and friends.

Describe your job to a five-year-old
I want people to feel happy at work, so I do all I can to make it a nice place to be. Sometimes, if people feel sad then they come and talk to me and I try and find a solution to their problems.

What do you like most about your job?
No two days are ever the same. There will always be new challenges and opportunities to learn. I also work with a great team who are all very supportive of each other.

How did you get here?
I started with Ideal Standard on a temporary six month contract and I’ve just celebrated 20 years service with the business.

When I joined the business 20 years ago, I worked within the sales office on the Ireland Team. I then did a number of different roles working on the trade and retail teams and then the DIY internal team.

I loved working with these teams but after having my first child, Harry, seven years ago, I took an opportunity to do a 12 month secondment to a HR assistant role as maternity cover. This was a great chance to give myself a new challenge. I quickly realised how much I loved the world of HR and was supported by the business with gaining my HR qualification. My position was made permanent, I was then promoted to HR coordinator and then to HR services manager just over a year ago.

I am so grateful to work for a business and in a role that has allowed me to progress my career alongside my most important role of being a mum to our two children.

Biggest facepalm moment at work?
I have so many but the only one I am willing to admit here is coming to work in completely odd shoes; one was flat the other was a heel. I had driven to work and then sat at my desk before someone else pointed it out.
