A full bathroom specification has been secured on the site of a former clay mine in Cornwall, the same clay mines which provide our Armitage plant with raw materials for our ceramics.
West Carclaze, near St Austell, is now being redeveloped into a garden village (see plan above), with 1,500 homes being built over 15 years by developer Eco-Bos, along with a 350-acre country park, five lakes, a school, commercial units and community facilities.
Now in its fourth phase, we have won the full bathroom specification, with our sustainability commitments and the circular economy playing a big part in the win.
Products in the specification include i.life S and B sanitaryware and furniture, Ceraplan taps, Concept baths and Ceratherm showers, with the current phase of 50 homes worth £100,000 to the business.
Specification Manager Sean Cunningham said: “Our sustainability message has been an important factor in securing the win.
“We have focused on the fact we sourced our clay from these pits and still source it from pits nearby, and it is in effect returning to the same location, highlighting the circular economy.
“In addition, the fact we are a UK manufacturer, meaning less transportation mileage, and are creating jobs for local people has also gone down well.”
