Personal Assistant Lindsey Sevier-White and her daughter Emily are appealing for sponsors after taking part in the 10k Enchanted Solstice Walk in aid of St Giles Hospice.
The challenge was to walk 10k from 8pm until finishing around the city of Lichfield while dressed as a fairy.
Lindsey’s mom Vera died of cancer some years ago and Lindsey wished she had known about the facility then as it would have made for a better experience for her and the family towards the end.
Emily walked for her grandad, who also died of cancer three years ago.
Lindsey said: “It was lovely to see so many people had gone to the effort of dressing up. We even had stormtroopers and fairies on stilts to wish us good luck.
“St Giles Hospice have a care facility in our village, which supports and cares for local people whose illness may not be curable, whenever and wherever they need it most, and were hit very much by Covid as their usual streams of fundraising were put on hold for nearly two years.
“It is something that I have always wanted to do, but was never at home the weekend of the event, normally due to being on holiday, so decided that we would do this this year as they need all the help they can get.”
St Giles Hospice help more than 7,000 people a year facing the challenge of a potentially incurable illness and provide bereavement support to more than 2,000 people every year.
They also have a dedicated team which provides physical, practical and emotional support free of charge at hospice centres in Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield, as well as in patients’ own homes.
