The real-world testing phase of the Intellimix tap has won over the first major brand to plan to install the product.
Construction equipment manufacturer JCB has been conducting an evaluation at the offices in its Cheadle manufacturing facility and is now looking to secure funds for a wider fit-out of Intellimix, only four weeks into the trial.
They are also conducting an additional trial at the company’s world headquarters in Uttoxeter.
Specification Manager Ash Burtoft is leading the proof of concept project in the UK, working with businesses to arrange a number of trials.
He said: “JCB are really impressed with the tap and the look of it, including the way they can integrate their logo on it.
“They enjoyed working closely with us in the trial phase and they like the technology. They said it would help them manage their buildings more effectively.
“JCB are doing a detailed cost of ownership using Cheadle as a case study, including how much water it saves versus their current setup.
“I think they liked working directly with another brand rather than working through contractors. This way, they get a better idea of what we are doing at Ideal Standard.”
Intellimix is an all-in-one mixer tap and soap dispenser with smart technology, and is being trialled by companies including Jaguar Land Rover, McDonalds and JCB, sports clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and in landmarks including Wembley Stadium, the O2 Arena and The Scalpel building, all in London.
The proof of concept phase also encourages end users to submit real-time feedback via a QR code and questionnaire.
The aim is to test Intellimix’s performance in real situations but also to open the door to sales as organisations switch to sensor taps in the wake of COVID-19.
