Name: Maycie Jane
Job title: Bid Executive
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m 22, engaged and live with my fiance who trades cryptocurrency. We haven’t got kids but we do have a dog called Branston who is our baby. I haven’t lived at home since I was 18. My biggest interest in life is spending money; if I have it I don’t have it long. 😉
Describe your job to a five-year-old
I tell people how much their toilet costs.
What do you like most about your job?
This is the first job where I feel like I’m accomplishing anything so I like the sense of achievement and the recognition from my team.
How did you get here?
I left sixth form and became the full-time manager at the bakery in the village which is run by my grandparents. We eventually decided that ties were being cut within the company and I made the decision to leave my role in the July of 2020, leaving myself unemployed in a lockdown (scary but worth it in the end). I was very fussy with which environment and role I’d apply for and eventually came across the ad for Ideal Standard. I’d already applied in another department previously and been unsuccessful so was so happy to hear I’d been given an interview, and the rest as they say is history…
What motivates you?
My biggest motivation is my future self and the life I see myself living. I don’t dream small so I can’t aim small.
If you could swap jobs with anyone, who would it be?
I’d be a pillow and bed tester. I love a siesta!
Your favourite song lyric or line from a film
My favourite song lyric is “if I had to choose you or the sun, I’d be one nocturnal sun of a gun” from Cupid’s Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes or anything Cardi B has EVER said.
And my favourite line from a film is from Legend – “The Queen would survive, but God save the rest of us.”
Your favourite app?
TikTok. I don’t create content but I was obsessed with Vine in school and my humour is so immature that I end up watching TikTok more than the Sky box I pay for.
Biggest facepalm moment at work?
When I told Hannah I knew that the Battle of Hastings was in 1866!
