Product Category Data Co-ordinator John Hampton retired this week after an incredible 47 years with the business.
John joined Ideal Standard on September 12th 1977, even before the Humber Bridge and the current Hull offices had opened, and when computer printouts were everywhere in the office

John said: “It’s passed so quickly, so many changes, such different times to when I started. I have enjoyed travel to sister company offices and manufacturing plants. I have had a desk in nearly every Hull location and some in Armitage.”

He added: “But the one constant that every leaver mentions is the wonderful people and characters who you work with and meet in the organisation, many of which have become lifelong friends.
“I have seen young starters grow into senior roles throughout the company. I am not sure how the company attracts such talented and resilient individuals over the years but they appear to.
“I wish you all good health and happiness and the exciting opportunities being part of the V&B family.”

John’s line manager. Jill Harrison, said: “John, you should feel immensely proud of your dedication to Ideal Standard and all the support, encouragement and mentoring you’ve given to so many along the way.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude for your service and wish you all the best in a long and happy retirement.”
