Colleagues are being encouraged to use social media to help tell potential job applicants about the benefits of a career with Ideal Standard.
The #lifeatidealstandard campaign plans to use the employee voice to describe what it’s like to work here in a visual way and to create a sense of community in the business.
It aims to use social media – primarily LinkedIn – to show real colleagues in genuine situations posting on their own accounts, whether it’s a corporate event, cakes for someone’s birthday or even an interesting meeting!
Communicating on social media is crucial to attracting the right candidates because now 79% of job seekers use it in their employment search, helping them to understand the business’ culture before they apply.
Recruitment Manager Viv Pearsons said: “We are actively encouraging colleagues to capture work moments and post them on LinkedIn with the hashtag #lifeatidealstandard.
"We know people like it here because our engagement survey tells us so and we want to reflect that in employee-generated social media content.
“We want to accurately describe the culture of Ideal Standard in order to attract people who are a good fit for the business as well as to essentially deselect or discourage those who aren’t the right cultural fit.”
A recent survey found that more than 90% of companies use social media in their recruitment and 80% of candidates search employee-generated content to understand a business’ culture and what it’s really like to work at a company.
The kinds of moments that colleagues are encouraged to capture include spontaneous events, special office moments, volunteering, work in progress, awards and product launches, focusing on the people rather than the product. Even meetings can be included if they’re interesting and visual!
The new Social Media Policy gives clear and sensible guidelines around what to post and what not to post, including positive messages about life at Ideal Standard, checking your background for sensitive or confidential information, and avoiding anything defamatory.
The #lifeatidealstandard campaign is the second phase of the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) project which aims to help Ideal Standard recruit and retain the brightest – and most suitable – talent for the company. Read about phase one in this article in The Bubble from October 26, 2018.
