Name: Debbie Chorlton
Job title: DC Administration Manager

Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi I’m Debbie, I live in Stone with my husband Richard (who I met at Ideal Standard), and my youngest daughter, Evie, who is 13 going on 30. She definitely keeps me young! I have three older children, three grandchildren and two cats!

I enjoy the outdoor life in our caravan, touring around the UK and France whenever we get the opportunity. This gives me some great relaxation and recharge time. I also enjoy spending time with the family and close friends. I have recently returned to a veterans’ dance troupe, something which has been part of mine and both my daughters’ lives for over 40 years.

Describe your job to a five-year-old
I send baths and toilets to people.

What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy the fact that no two days are the same and each day brings new challenges and opportunities. I take great pleasure in coaching and supporting my team members to gain new knowledge and skills that will help them grow as individuals.

How did you get here?
I started at Armitage Shanks Excelsior plant in 1999 as a lithographer, having previously trained at Wedgewood for 14 years. During my six years at Excelsior I progressed to inventory and material controller before taking management responsibility for both Excelsior and Middlewich inventory.

My next step was Middlewich warehouse manager and after the plant closed I moved to the Armitage DC as inbound freight leader. During my time at Armitage I have completed a variety of duties and projects ultimately arriving at my current position.

What motivates you?
My family motivate me.

If you could swap jobs with anyone, who would it be?
A zoo keeper looking after lemurs – super cute and mischievous

Your favourite song lyric or line from a film
“We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We’re going to live on. We’re going to survive. Today we celebrate our Independence Day!”

I find the president’s speech from Independence Day one of the most inspirational speeches in a movie, reminding us all that how hard something may feel, anything is achievable and we shouldn’t give up.

Your favourite app?
Clash of Clans.

Biggest facepalm moment at work?
Going to Ireland to complete a stocktake and leaving my mobile phone in the toilet cubicle on the other side of passport control at Dublin airport.
