Business Development Director Neil Bills has challenged his son Jacob to walk 100 miles before the end of home schooling – and to raise money for charity in the process.
Neil was inspired by the business’ focus on health and wellbeing, having struggled to get into good habits like taking breaks from his laptop for much of the COVID period.
Jacob has now raised over £2,000 for the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, West Yorkshire, and stands at 81% of his £2,500 target. He is 35 miles into the 100 and expects to reach 50 over the weekend.
Neil said: “I’ve been the worst ambassador for health and wellbeing over recent months. With home schooling being an additional focus, my time flips between desks; mine and Jacob’s.
“There’s an easy way for me to focus when Jacob gets his time out and the X-Box seems to be one of the best investments I’ve ever made… but easy isn’t always right.”
He added: “I like to pride myself on delivering on my commitments and would like to think this is something that my son inherits so I’ve set him a worthy challenge that means he’ll need to do the same.
“It also gets me away from the laptop for an hour a day, keeps us healthier and hopefully can support an important local charity in raising much needed funds.”
