A tour of the Armitage plant was a dream come true for toilet-mad 10-year-old Cayden Gordon, whose mum drove him all the way from Swansea to visit.
Cayden, a regular visitor to the Flushed with Pride exhibit at Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke, despite the 360-mile round trip, caught our segment on BBC2’s Inside the Factory documentary series and has watched it lots of times since.
His mum, Bev, contacted us to ask if Cayden could see how toilets were made by visiting the ceramics factory.
Bev said: “Cayden has ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and has had this obsession for close to six years. He loves toilets, can’t tell me why but loves them. He knows every type, the history, the mechanics and so on.
“Cayden described his tour of the factory as the best day of his life. He has told everyone and anyone about his visit and he can’t wait to be old enough to work there, either designing toilets or actually making them in the factory.
“I’d like to thank you all for making my boy’s dreams come true, and all the staff that made it happen and who took their time to show him all aspects of making toilets! “
Cayden is pictured with VC Engineer Bob Brown, who helped him to finish off some toilets.
