The Armitage site has achieved certification to ISO 14001:2015, the recognised standard for Environment Management Systems (EMSs).
This new standard takes the EMS another step forward. Rather than simply managing our impacts such as the waste we create and the energy we use, it involves senior leaders and managers too.
It requires them to consider the environment in business planning and operations, setting objectives and supporting them.
For example, one way in which we have a very positive impact on health and the environment is in the design and production of taps which reduce water consumption and improve hygiene control in hospitals.
Future initiatives could be to continue these design projects and develop our procurement strategy to reduce or eliminate plastic packaging, for example.
Health, Safety and Environment Manager Sue Izon said: “This is an excellent achievement which demonstrates our commitment as a business to reducing our impact on the environment.
“All activities in the business can focus on improvements such as using recycled raw materials, engaging with suppliers who use returnable packaging and by choosing fuel efficient company cars.”
Our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment is included in the new Environment Policy which is available from Sue by emailing sizon@dealstandard.com
