UK and Ireland Finance Director Rachel Whittaker told her story to inspire dozens of girls at the latest REACH Next Generation Summit in Sheffield.
She was one of about 15 speakers from a range of sectors, including sport, fashion, music, business, charities, nutrition, human rights and social media at the event at the University of Sheffield, with Ideal Standard being one of the main sponsors.
The aim of REACH Next Generation is to motivate girls aged 11 to 15 to help them overcome the barriers that women often face in their careers.
Rachel said: “It was a real privilege to represent Ideal Standard at the REACH Next Generation summit in Sheffield. I spoke to over 80 11 to 15-year-old girls about my journey to doing the job I love, with the hope that at least one of them might take some inspiration from my story and believe that for them too anything is possible.
“I was stunned at how engaged and interested they were. The future of Sheffield and beyond is looking very bright in these young ladies’ hands.”
REACH Next Generation is the brainchild of Sky Sports presenter Sarah Stirk and aims to help women reach the top of their careers and overcome the barriers and obstacles they face.
Ideal Standard has become one of the main sponsors of REACH Next Generation through our ESG program, part of which aims to ensure equality within our own business and to promote it externally too.
