Ideal Standard is investing in the future of the bathrooms industry by supporting the training of a new generation of installers.
We are gifting some of our Apprenticeship Levy – a form of tax paid by larger companies which must be used to fund training – to a number of installation firms to help with the costs of developing the skills of their apprentices.
One of them is Adroit Services, a second-generation family business based in Buckinghamshire, specialising in the supply and fit of domestic bathrooms for customers across the county and into parts of Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire.
The business has a team of 14 installers which currently includes two apprentices and a trainee. Ideal Standard is funding the formal qualifications of one of the apprentices, Ashton (pictured above with his mentor, Paul).
Managing Partner Emma Butt said: “Ashton is about to complete his second block at college and has now had five weeks on the tools putting his learning into practice. He is really getting stuck in and our lead installers are pleased to welcome him to the team.”
Adroit employ all of their installers and have to work hard to demonstrate the benefits of their employment package, especially as the norm is to be a self-employed contractor.

Emma added: “There is such a huge skills gap in the KBB installer industry, with so many contractors retiring and not enough knowledge being passed to the next generation.
“Beyond the obvious financial benefits of college fees being covered, it’s great to have the support of such a major player in the industry as Ideal Standard, doing their bit help and to amplify the need for apprentices to the wider industry.”
