A new suite of internal training guides is being created to help new starters and existing colleagues develop their knowledge of our business and sector.
So far, modules have been completed for Bathing, Furniture and Plumbing Systems, with others being developed for Commercial Sanitary Ware, Domestic Sanitary Ware, Commercial Fittings, Domestic Fittings and Showering.
The guides give a simple explanation of manufacturing processes and materials, and a description of each product type by name, giving the abbreviated titles that will be seen by internal system users.
They also cover basic installation guidance, industry terminology, frequently asked questions and any relevant legislation.
Product Sales Trainer Chris Pearson, who joined the business in 1991, is developing the guides.
He said: “Back in the 90s when you started at Ideal Standard we had a range of guides for people to read as a part of their introduction to the business.
“I always felt that these were a great tool. The BMA do have something similar, however, ours are more aligned to our business and product offering.”
Chris added: “Our range can be quite overwhelming and for new starters there’s a lot to take in.
“The Idea is to break down the information into specific categories in a simple basic style that is not too overwhelming and we can also target the modules they start to read in line with their position in the business.”
The guides are intended for both internal upskilling and new starter inductions, with tests being developed to gauge how well the users have understood the content.
They are available from Chris by emailing cpearson@idealstandard.com or on the common drive at H:\Training\Training Modules
