The second tallest skyscraper in London is finally complete – featuring Armitage Shanks sanitaryware – after years of delays.
Work started on 22 Bishopsgate (above, centre), informally known as TwentyTwo, in 2008 but construction stopped for five in years in 2012 because of the recession.
It started up again in 2017 and was finally finished earlier this month, with the tower’s 278m height putting it second only to the 310m The Shard in the capital’s skyline.
TwentyTwo features 700 sets of pans and bespoke basins that were created specially for the project.
It means that our products have been used in at least three of the twenty tallest buildings in London, including 22 Leadenhall Street, also known as “The Cheesegrater” and 100 Bishopsgate.
Non-Residential Channel Director Tim Chappell said: “Our product team developed the Bishopsgate basin especially for this project and we finally got the order around two years ago, with the basin now part of our washrooms portfolio.
“It’s very satisfying to know that Armitage Shanks and Ideal Standard products are included in so many prestigious projects in London and we are working with architects and contractors to secure the specifications for even more of these in the coming years.”
