A full specification for a new elderly housing scheme has been won after two years of working with the developer.
Steppingley Road Senior Living Village is being built for Central Bedfordshire Council by the main contractor Farrans Construction and installer J&B Hopkins.
Worth £209,000 to the business, the order is for the full bathroom package, in line with our Singular approach to specification.
This includes ceramics, brassware, cleaner’s sinks and, although we came under threat on the grab and hinged support rails, these are included too.
Our involvement began in June 2021 with the first tender enquiry, moving quickly to contract award and then to a number of installers pricing the project.
Specification Manager Harvey Chapman said: “After another year had gone by, the installer was awarded and I was pleased to see it was J&B Hopkins, who we have a good relationship with.
“We had quite a lot of back and forth between the installers and ourselves but we eventually came to an agreement and the full specification is ours.
“Our estimating team, who completed countless revisions to get to the final position, were absolutely brilliant. They are unsung heroes as far as I’m concerned!
“Having a good open and honest relationship with your customer is key and that has definitely helped us in this case.”
