Villeroy & Boch was invited to take part in the Smile Cup, a corporate 5-a-side charity football tournament held at the Dransfield Stadium in North Ferriby, near Hull.

The company had previously attended the charity event last year, where businesses from across the region came together to raise money for a great cause while building stronger connections between colleagues and local organisations.
Last year, we were knocked out in the quarter-finals. However, for the 2026 tournament, a new-look squad was assembled with high hopes of going even further.

Mustafa Rahman captained the side, while Ivan Adzic was nominated as team manager. The squad also included Paul Ward, Nick Walker, Brad Dance, Matt Brown and Will Walker.

After an impressive group-stage campaign, the team progressed through to the knockout stages and reached the final, we came from 1–0 down to secure a 4–2 victory and win the Smile Plate trophy.
Will Walker and Mustafa Rahman both scored two goals each to get the team over the line in a brilliant comeback performance.

Mustafa said: “Every round of the tournament proved to be highly competitive, but with each game the team became stronger.
“The whole squad collectively put in a fantastic effort throughout the day, showing great teamwork, determination and a strong defensive performance.
“Their improvement and resilience across the tournament made it a memorable and successful occasion while supporting a brilliant charitable cause.”
