The first orders are in for an enormous modular high-rise project which could run to a full specification of more than 2,000 apartments.
The First Street development is a large project incorporating modern methods of construction in a prominent position in Manchester, with 2,222 apartments being built over four towers, the tallest of which is 45 storeys.
Pete Tonge, Key Account Manager – High Rise and Hotel Channel, started working on the project in August 2020 with the initial pricing and then working with the architect to get to the current position.
Our success in First Street has come through collaboration between modular construction firm Offsite Solutions and Ideal Standard in securing the order from the client and main contractor.
Once the specification and pricing were in place, we supplied Offsite Solutions with samples which had to be approved by the client.
This was signed off and we have now received the first part of the order, for both sanitaryware and brassware for plots A and B.
This is a full specification on this development with Connect Air wall hung pans, Conceala cisterns and dual flush plates, Connect Air semi-recessed basins, Sandringham baths, Sandringham basin mixers and T50 bath shower mixers.
The bathroom pods will now be manufactured at Offsite Solutions’ factory in Somerset before being transported to the First Street site and hoisted into position by crane.
Pete said: “This was a great team effort from ourselves with input from Tim Chappell, Steve Parker and also our estimating team who had to keep changing the quotation due to specification changes, even up to three weeks ago!
“The total project value could be up to £750k but we still have work to do to secure plots C and D which will be due next year.”
He added: “This order goes to show how long it can take for high rise projects to go from initial enquiry to order stage which on this occasion has taken over two years to come to fruition.
“All in all this has been a great project to be involved in and will be even better once we secure the next phase!”
